Hello
I just bought a WD Netcenter and found this page and got intrested in the openFW with ftp support, trying to find som information about this in a google translated page isnt the easiest thing to do =) (and maybe not so easy for you to understand bad english in a google translated page either ). Do I only have to update the firmware with openFW 0.3 ? Where do the start.sh files go and so on ? So a quick install guide in english would be so nice to have or if someone could give me some hints or something. Your work is very much appreciated, thanks and keep it up. Regards Martin, Sweden |

Hello hallon,
and welcome in Forum (i have your post translatet with google ) Here comes my first attempt of an English guidance: download firmware and go to Netcenter-Manager 1. update firmware 2. Look for Volume-Name -> Drive Management -> Rename a Volume -> in the List Volume-Name must: Main (is no Main? -> Volume Name: Main -> Button Rename Volume) 3. Make a Directory -> file sharing -> add a shared folder -> begin wizzard -> shared folder name: userconf -> next create in volume name, select: Main -> next mark NFS and CIFS and Private -> set a good password (combination of letters and pay) -> Button Create Shared Folder 4. download a xx_start.sh from open_netcenter-Web -> Firmware -> _start.sh 5. copy this xx_start.sh in the Directory userconf and rename to start.sh 6. close Netcenter-Manager and press the WD-Netcenter-Front-Button for shutdown -> wait 1 Min and then press Button for startup 7. Test when the netcenter-led is on/blue: remove the power-supplie from the Netcenter (No press Button!), wait 1 Min and turn the power-supplie on netcenter -> within 20 Sec the Netcenter must automatic starting have fun Regards Mike (i hope you understand my bad english) addition: open 05_start.sh with a unix-compatible editor (no windows-notepad) and delete this: # set timezone nvram set time_zone=Europa/Berlin nvram commit ... this is for german timezone (nothing makes, if it is not deleted) |

Yes, is to be changed momentarily unfortunately not.
I work already on a new version, where that can be limited access to individual listings, it however still something will last. Regards Mike |
